PRE-PURCHASE GUIDE

Complete PC parts checklist before buying

Run through every compatibility, clearance and power check before paying for your components.

Verify the core platform

Confirm that the CPU socket matches the motherboard and that the exact processor appears on the motherboard support list. Check whether a specific BIOS version is required. A matching socket alone does not guarantee support.

Confirm that the motherboard uses the selected DDR4 or DDR5 memory and that its size fits the case. Review the board manual for storage slots, expansion layout and front-panel connectors.

Check graphics-card fit and power

Use the dimensions of the exact graphics-card model, not only the GPU family. Confirm length, thickness and height against the case, including any reduction caused by a front radiator.

Check the recommended system power and required connectors. The power supply should provide the correct native cables and sensible headroom for the complete build.

Confirm cooling compatibility

Check CPU cooler socket support and mounting hardware. For air coolers, verify height and memory clearance. For liquid coolers, verify radiator size, thickness, fan position and clearance around the motherboard.

Review whether the processor includes a usable stock cooler. Higher-power processors may need a stronger solution to sustain performance without excessive noise.

Review storage and connectivity

Confirm that every NVMe drive uses a supported M.2 slot and that installing it does not disable another required port. Count the SATA connections, USB headers, display outputs, network features and expansion slots you actually need.

Remember that a processor without integrated graphics may require a discrete graphics card before the system can display an image. Motherboard video ports do not create graphics capability by themselves.

Final checks before payment

Compare exact product codes, warranty coverage, return rules and stock status. Save a copy of the final parts list and verify the retailer total independently. Prices and availability can change between comparison and checkout.

Plan for an operating system, monitor cable, network connection and basic tools. After assembly, update the BIOS only when necessary, enable the supported memory profile and monitor temperatures during initial testing.
